One number per animal, for life

Traceability starts with knowing which animal is which. Studbrand ID supplies the tags and tools to number every animal, and keeps that number the same when a tag is lost.

Why the number matters

An ear tag is the key that every other record hangs on. Milk, breeding, treatments, sales, pedigree and valuation are only as reliable as the link between the animal and its number.

That is why we plan numbering with you before tags are printed: which format, which details on the tag, and how numbers match your herd book, your breed society and any official identification you already use. Studbrand complements the national livestock identification and traceability system, ANLITS, and carries the official number wherever one exists.

When a tag is lost, we supply a replacement carrying the same number, so the animal keeps its history.

How an order works

  1. Tell us about the herd

    Species, number of animals, the numbering you use today and what should appear on the tag.

  2. Agree the tag and the layout

    We recommend a tag type and send a quotation with the print layout, price and lead time for your confirmation.

  3. Tags are numbered and delivered

    Tags arrive numbered in sequence with the applicator you need. Delivery options are confirmed with the quotation.

  4. Record the animals

    Optional: load the numbers into StudPro so each tag opens a full animal record.
