Building livestock data infrastructure, together

Building a livestock data system for a society, county, country or programme? Studbrand builds the infrastructure that connects farms, breed societies and the services around them, so livestock keepers can raise productivity and run more profitable herds.

Why partner with Studbrand

Livestock data, not generic software

Identification, herd records, breed registries and valuation, designed around how livestock is actually kept and traded.

A registry platform in build

Studbrand is building the multi-tenant registry platform for the Kenya Livestock Breeders Association (KLBA), designed so other societies can run their own herdbook on it.

Here for the long term

A Kenyan team with local support and pricing in Kenya shillings. Systems built to keep running after a project ends.

Your data stays yours

Societies own their herdbooks and farms own their records, with a published data-export commitment. Read our commitments.

Works with national identity

Studbrand complements the national livestock identification and traceability system, ANLITS. Our records carry the official number wherever one exists.

How we work with partners

Breed societies and herdbook authorities

A herdbook the society owns and controls on Studbrand Registry, with the society registering animals and issuing its own certificates. Studbrand operates the platform.

Government and counties

The commercial layer above the national system: replacement and private identification, county implementation support and herd records that interoperate with national identity. ANLITS proves the animal exists; Studbrand helps the farm make it profitable.

Development partners and programmes

An implementation partner for livestock data, identification and capacity building, whose systems and trained people outlast the project.

Technology partners

Sensor and hardware vendors, genetic evaluation services and payment providers. We integrate; we do not compete.

Research and academia

Teaching herds, research data and collaboration on livestock data and analysis.

Finance partners

Lenders and insurers serving livestock keepers, who need reliable identity and records for the animals behind a loan or a policy.

Built in Kenya, designed to scale across Africa

Breed societies, co-operatives and livestock programmes across the region face the same problems: records on paper, registrations that take months, and data that never reaches the farm decisions it should support.

Studbrand’s registry and herd-records platforms are designed so the model built in Kenya can be replicated by other societies and countries, in line with regional and continental livestock development goals.

We describe alignment, never endorsement. Partners, clients and institutions are named with their written permission.
