About
Livestock digital infrastructure, built in Kenya
Studbrand is based in Nairobi, Kenya. We build the systems that help livestock keepers know every animal, manage smarter and grow profitable herds, and that connect farms with the breed societies, co-operatives and services around them.
Why we exist
Much of the value on a livestock farm is standing in the field, and most of it is invisible on paper. Without a number, an animal cannot be traced. Without records, a farmer cannot tell which cow to cull, which heifer to breed from, or why the calving interval has slipped. Without pedigree, good stock sells for less than it should.
Studbrand closes that gap in connected steps. Studbrand ID tags give every animal one number for life. The StudPro app records breeding, production, health and cost, even offline. Studbrand Registry gives breed societies the platform to register pedigree and ownership and issue their own certificates. Studbrand Value prepares independent, IAS 41-aligned valuations. Studbrand Advisory and Academy help societies, counties, ranches and programmes design livestock data systems and train the people who run them.
We are building in Kenya, and designing the platform so the same model can serve breed societies and livestock programmes across Africa.

How we work
Name the animal
Every record starts with an identified animal. Without a number, there is nothing to record, register or value.
Your data stays yours
Farms, societies and institutions own their records.
Explain the number
A valuation, a report or a dashboard is only useful if the person reading it understands where it came from.
Fit the farm
Tools have to work where the animals are: on a phone, in the parlour, with patchy network.
What we do
- Breed Societies & Registries: herdbook and registry systems that the society owns and runs
- Commercial Farms & Ranches: identification and herd records that improve productivity and margins
- Co-operatives & Rural Programs: records for many small herds, through groups farmers already trust
- Data Systems & Capacity: livestock data systems, analysis and training that people keep using
- Studbrand Registry: herdbook and registry platform for breed societies
- StudPro: herd records and performance for farms
- Studbrand Cooperative: milk collection and member records for co-operatives
How we work with institutions
Breed societies own their herdbooks and farms own their records. Studbrand operates the platform, publishes its data-export commitment and gives each society a say in how the registry develops.
